New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has provided his film breakdown for the victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and it’s one of his better performances. Belichick highlights two offensive plays- the 15-yard touchdown to RB James White and the 4-yard touchdown to TE Rob Gronkowski- but the meat of the video is analysis of the Patriots goal line stand.
“Anytime you get a defensive stand on 4th and 1 on the goal line, I think that qualifies as a play of the week candidate,” Belichick said.
Belichick looks closely at the Patriots two run stuffs against the Bengals, with special praise for LB Elandon Roberts on the first, and ED Chris Long on the second.
“So, the ball is on the 1 yard line,” Belichick says. “You can see the defensive penetration here, a real good, low charge here coming off the ball and kind of resetting the line of scrimmage there on the 2-yard line from the 1. And that creates space for Elandon Roberts to come downhill and make the hit here on the 2-yard line.”
Belichick notes Long’s ability to set the edge on the other play. Check out the video!
