The (6-1) New England Patriots will travel to face the (4-3) Buffalo Bills.
The New England Patriots are looking to avoid being swept by a divisional rival for the first time since Bill Belichick’s first year as head coach in 2000. The Dolphins and the Jets both swept the Patriots that year. The last time the Bills swept the Patriots was in 1999.
The Bills defeated the Patriots 16-0 in week 4 as the Patriots relied on rookie QB Jacoby Brissett to play through a thumb injury. The Bills were battling a long list of injuries and suspensions of their own.
A Patriots victory wouldn’t guarantee another division title for the Patriots, but it would move the Patriots to 7-1 at the bye and would place the team in great position. The Bills would fall to 4-4 with three divisional losses, making it difficult for Buffalo to win any tiebreaker against the Patriots.
The Patriots have only been 7-1 or better three times under Belichick: 2004, 2007, and 2015.
