The (7-2) New England Patriots will travel to face the (1-8) San Francisco 49ers.
The Patriots are looking to earn their 8th win of the season against QB Tom Brady’s childhood team. 8 wins would guarantee the Patriots have avoided a losing record for the 16th straight season, tied with the Raiders (1965-80) and the 49ers (1983-98) for the 3rd longest in NFL history.
Only the Browns (1957-73, 17 seasons) and the Cowboys (1965-85, 21 seasons) will have longer streaks.
This will be the first time in Brady’s career that he will be playing in front of his home crowd in California. Brady has only faced the 49ers twice in his career and both took place at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots have only played on the road against the 49ers once in the past 20 years and QB Matt Cassel led the Patriots to a 30-21 victory in 2008.
RB Dion Lewis could make his season debut, while TE Rob Gronkowski might be unavailable due to a chest injury.
