WATCH: Patriots coaches talked about ball security throughout 49ers game

It’s clear the Patriots wanted to protect the football.

The New England Patriots have released their week 11 behind the scenes tape and it starts with a pretty beautiful moment of QB Tom Brady looking at the San Francisco 49ers field for the first time. Brady grew up as a 49ers fan and this was his first game back in San Francisco.

But it was clear that there was only one focus for the Patriots this week: ball security.

“Secure the ball before you run with it on the catch, okay?,” offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said before the game. “Get up the field, don’t run lateral. Let’s make sure we take care of the football late in the play. That’s what we’re talking about.”

Offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia gives some words of encouragement to the offensive line, while running back coach Ivan Fears tells RB LeGarrette Blount to “get ready to blow it up.” Blount ran for 124 yards.

After the game, the Patriots were in full celebration mode as head coach Bill Belichick broke down the huddle.

“Alright fellas, let’s start with ball security, that’s what we’re talking about,” Belichick said after the game. “That’s a great job of taking care of it.”

“You know what I think it’s time for?,” Belichick paused, allowing the room to soak it in. “Victory Monday.” The room erupted.

How they did not include any sort of highlight or reaction from Brady’s 56-yard touchdown pass to rookie WR Malcolm Mitchell makes be believe either the cameraman was sleeping, or whatever occurred was way too NSFW to be edited down into the video.
