In years past, the New England Patriots have made roster moves on a regular basis. This year, however, is a little different as the team has not been forced to make a lot of changes — at least on the active 53-man roster. The Patriots have still made quite a few practice squad transactions.
The latest of those happened yesterday, when New England released safety Shamiel Gary (as announced by the team):
#Patriots release DB Shamiel Gary from the practice squad:
This is Gary’s second stint with New England.
The Patriots are waiting on the NFL’s decision of whether or not to uphold the 4-game suspension of DT Alan Branch. If Branch is suspended, the only defensive tackles on the roster are sophomore Malcom Brown and rookies Vincent Valentine and Woodrow Hamilton; there are no defensive tackles on the practice squad. Look for the Patriots to add a big body to the practice squad in the coming days.
