New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski was listed on the injury report with a chest injury, but he was deemed healthy enough to play against the New York Jets. That didn’t last very long.
Gronkowski left the game with a reported back injury and the team declared him out for the rest of the game. Gronkowski has a long history of back injuries, which means this shouldn’t be taken lightly.
TE Martellus Bennett is now the only tight end on the active roster since back-up TE Matt Lengel is inactive. Bennett re-injured his ankle shortly after Gronkowski was declared out.
The Patriots used more two running back sets once Bennett was sidelined.
Update: Gronkowski is not expected to miss any time after this week.
Per source, initial indication on the back injury of TE Rob Gronkowski is that it is not serious. He's currently not expected to miss time.
