The New England Patriots have improved to 9-2 thanks to their 22-17 victory over the New York Jets. While it was not the sharpest of all performances, the game bears a lot of significance – contemporarily and historically.
Not only does the win keep the Patriots’ rivals in the division at bay and helps keep the team in the race for the number one overall seed in the AFC, it also secured quarterback Tom Brady yet another spot in the NFL’s record books. After all, the victory was the 200th of his career.
This ties Brady with old rival Peyton Manning for most combined wins by a starting quarterback in the regular season and the post season. However, while Manning needed 292 starts to get to 200 wins, Brady accomplished the feat in only his 261st start.
If we break down Brady’s 200 victories by opponent, the list looks as follows:
Buffalo Bills: 26
New York Jets: 23
Miami Dolphins: 19
Indianapolis Colts: 14
Pittsburgh Steelers: 9
Baltimore Ravens: 7
Jacksonville Jaguars: 7
San Diego Chargers: 7
Cincinnati Bengals: 6
Cleveland Browns: 6
Denver Broncos: 6
Houston Texans: 6
Tennessee Titans: 6
Kansas City Chiefs: 5
Atlanta Falcons: 4
Chicago Bears: 4
Dallas Cowboys: 4
Detroit Lions: 4
Minnesota Vikings: 4
Oakland Raiders: 4
Philadelphia Eagles: 4

While Brady won his 200th game, the Patriots have won their 500th. Yes, right now, Tom Brady is responsible for 40% of the franchise’s all-time victories.
Congratulations, Tom. And on to victories 201, 202, 203,...
