Tom Brady is AFC Offensive Player of the Month, passes Peyton Manning for NFL record

Brady was the AFC offensive player of the month for October!

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October for the 9th time in his career, passing QB Peyton Manning for the most in NFL history.

Bills LB Lorenzo Alexander and Colts K Adam Vinatieri won defensive player and special teams player of the month.

Brady returned from his suspension with a vengeance, leading the league in almost every single passing statistic.

For the month of October, Brady threw 12 touchdowns in 4 games. Brady was tied with Raiders QB Derek Carr and Falcons QB Matt Ryan, but they both played in 5 games.

Brady’s completion rate of 73.1% was the highest of any player with more than 2 pass attempts. His passer rating of 133.9 was the highest of any player with more than 25 pass attempts, as was his 9.84 yards per attempt. His 330 yards per game rate trailed only Falcons QB Matt Ryan.

Brady also ranks #1 in the NFL in DVOA and QBR, and the Patriots offense has been the best in the league since his return by DVOA, while the offense has scored 34 points per game with Brady at the helm, the best in the NFL.

The rest of the AFC was pretty weak on offense with the top three gainers in yards from scrimmage all belonging to the NFC. Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell ranked first with 589 yards from scrimmage over 4 games.

Brady also won this award for the month of September in 2015, after a summer of DeflateGate nonsense, so no one should be surprised Brady set the league on fire.

Per the Patriots official press release:

“It is the sixth time this season that a Patriots player has earned an NFL honor in 2016. K Stephen Gostkowski was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the win at Arizona on Sept. 11, and P Ryan Allen was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. Houston on Sept. 22. RB LeGarrette Blount was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following the Cleveland game on Oct. 9. LB Dont’a Hightower was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the win vs. Cincinnati on Oct. 16."

Congratulations to Tom Brady!
