Injury update: Patriots WR Julian Edelman’s foot injury "nothing to worry about"

The team’s number one wideout missed yesterday’s session but apparently he will be fine going forward.

The injury report the New England Patriots released yesterday, their first of the week, was not the longest of the season but it was definitely the one with the biggest names on it. Quarterback Tom Brady and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett all missed the session.

Also absent was the team’s number one wide receiver, Julian Edelman. Via the injury report his absence was related to an issue with his foot. However, according to Doug Kyed, Edelman’s foot injury is not serious enough to endanger his long-term availability:

#Patriots WR Julian Edelman missed practice today, but his foot injury is "nothing to worry" about, according to a source.

Edelman, who broke his foot last season, needed until the Patriots’ week 7 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers to return to his usual form. Once he did, he was back as Tom Brady’s number one target; seeing a whooping 55 passes thrown his way the last five games.

The 30-year old is a vital member of the Patriots’ offense, so the report of his injury being "nothing to worry about" is certainly encouraging. We will see how quickly he can return to practice and resume his role as the Brady’s go-to guy.
