Rookie DT Woodrow Hamilton was released earlier this week so the New England Patriots could activate QB Jacoby Brissett off the injured reserve. Hamilton is back in New England, ready to sign with the practice squad according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots have an opening on the practice squad after the Miami Dolphins signed LB Trevor Reilly away from New England’s practice squad.
Hamilton was a stout run defender for the Patriots when fellow rookie DT Vincent Valentine was out with a back injury. Hamilton joins DT Darius Kilgo on the practice squad, where Kilgo is receiving the same pay as if he were on the active roster with a minimum salary. I would expect Hamilton to receive a similar type of pay structure.
The Patriots are moving forward with DT Alan Branch, DT Malcom Brown, and Valentine as the trio of defensive tackles on the active roster. Hamilton and Kilgo will be elevated to the roster if there is an injury.
