Patriots CB Malcolm Butler completely redeemed himself against the Jets

The Patriots cornerback struggled against the Jets earlier in the year.

New England Patriots CB Malcolm Butler did not play well against the New York Jets in week 12. He allowed 6 completions on 6 targets for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns and struggled against the bigger receivers in Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa.

“I struggle with the Jets,” Butler admit on Saturday. “There’s something about the Jets.”

Well, Butler rebounded from that week 12 letdown with an impeccable performance against the Jets in week 16. Butler allowed zero receptions all day, recorded 2 interceptions, and recovered a fumble.

“This is the type of game that any player would want to force three turnovers. It was overall a great win. We played good defense, our offense took advantage of all their opportunities, and I’m just glad we got the win,” Butler said. “I just had the mentality to make sure I didn’t drop any balls this game and it didn’t happen.”

The Patriots scored 17 points off of Butler’s turnovers and it was more than enough to secure the victory.

In week 17, New England faces a red hot Miami Dolphins team that has won 9 of their past 10 games. Butler allowed 8 receptions on 11 targets for 139 yards back in week 2 and will have yet another opportunity to redeem himself.
