Bears WR Alshon Jeffery, Will You Be the Patriots Valentine?

Dear Alshon Jeffery,

Valentine's Day is about making dreams come true, so why not ask someone that's way out of your league?

Alshon, will you be the New England Patriots' valentine?

I know, I know, it doesn't make any sense. The Chicago Bears will probably use the franchise tag on you (first date for franchise tags is this Tuesday) for essentially a one-year, $14.5 million contract, and then they'll try to hash out a long term extension. It's unlikely that the Patriots will ever get to speak with you.

You're a 6'3, 215 lbs receiver that has battled knee, and calf, and groin, and hamstring injuries, but you're also immensely talented. You have career highs of 89 receptions, 1,421 yards, and also 10 touchdowns. Can you imagine how much you'd produce in the Patriots offense?

Maybe the Patriots can't offer you the same sort of money that you'd receive on the open market- estimated at roughly $12.8 million per season by Spotrac- but New England can offer you a chance to play with the best quarterback on the planet? The Patriots can offer more than just a good sense of humor.

Tom Brady is an upgrade over Jay Cutler, and Rob Gronkowski is an upgrade over every other player on the Chicago offense. Remember how well you produced with Brandon Marshall in the offense? Well, you could play with Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. The sky is the limit for what you could do.

Now this might seem a little out of character because the Patriots have never been the type to chase after top dollar wide receivers, and rarely ask out top tier players developed by other teams, but Alshon, this could be different. This could be special.

Alshon, will you be the Patriots' valentine?
