Slowly but steadily, the New England Patriots are entering free agency. After basically sitting out the first two days, only working behind the scenes, the team has started to become more active today: the Patriots are expected to sign restricted free agent wide receiver Chris Hogan to an offer sheet and extending an offer to unrestricted free agent Rod Streater.
After addressing the offensive side of the ball, the team has apparently turned its attention to defense: according to his very own Instagram account, New England has signed free agent defensive tackle Frank Kearse. The 27-year old defender posted a picture of the Patriots' logo with the following caption attached:

Kearse will join a talented defensive tackle depth chart that also includes first rounders Dominique Easley and Malcom Brown as well as veterans Alan Branch and Chris Jones. The 6'5, 300 lbs journeyman, who spent his last two years in Washington, is expected to be a rotational player.
Most importantly, he also gives the Patriots' at least a little security in case Akiem Hicks exits via unrestricted free agency.
