The New England Patriots have improved their roster, but we might not see the fruits of the draft until 2017. For those hoping for an impact rookie, don't hold your breath- this was a draft with the 2017 in mind.
60th overall CB Cyrus Jones is a good prospect that has plenty of upside. He was recruited to college as a wide receiver before converting to defense and he's improved every season. He'll compete with Justin Coleman and Darryl Roberts for time as a rookie, but it's likely he won't see a larger role until Logan Ryan departs in free agency after the 2016 season.
78th overall OL Joe Thuney doesn't have a position- yet. He's able to compete for a starting spot at all five offensive line positions and can probably play them all very well. He's likely the heir to Sebastian Vollmer, but don't count him out of the competition to start at offensive guard.
91st overall QB Jacoby Brissett isn't receiving the same fanfare as Jimmy Garoppolo, but the role will be the same. The Patriots will move Garoppolo at the end of the 2017 season for whatever draft compensation they can recuperate. Brissett will receive a year in the system before being tagged as the primary back-up to Tom Brady.
96th overall DT Vincent Valentine is a megasized athlete who will probably only see 20% of snaps as a rookie in Sealver Siliga's vacated role. Valentine is set up to take over for veterans Alan Branch and Terrance Knighton down the road as a leviathan space eater.
112th overall WR Malcolm Mitchell is my pick to have the biggest impact as a rookie and I'm not expected anything more than a couple hundred receiving yards. I think he has a bright future, but he'll compete with Chris Hogan for playing time- and Hogan could even replace Danny Amendola in the slot if the latter doesn't restructure.
208th overall LB Kamu Grugier-Hill is likely a special teams player, but there should be no expectations of players taken this late in the draft. Grugier-Hill is able in coverage and could develop into a Patrick Chung-type of player.
214th overall LB Elandon Roberts will also compete for a special teams role. He's more destined for an inside role, but his size will limit his upside. Look for him to compete for a special teams spot, while serving as a deep back-up on run-only downs.
221st overall OG Ted Karras is a 43 game starter at right guard and will immediate compete for a roster spot at the the logjammed position.
225th overall WR Devin Lucien is a possible steal as an outside receiver and will compete for a precious roster spot this season.
