Pats Pulpit Podcast Episode 038: Setting up the Patriots defensive depth chart!

New, comments

The Patriots are returning most of their defensive starters and will take the next step forward in 2016.

The New England Patriots defense will feature a lot of similar faces from 2015.

Edge defender Chandler Jones is in Arizona. Third defensive tackle Akiem Hicks is in Chicago. Third linebacker Jerod Mayo is retired. Chris Long joins the edge rotation, while Terrance Knighton and Shea McClellin take over for Hicks and Mayo.

Everyone else is back and the unit should be even better than last season.

Jabaal Sheard should thrive with another year in the system, while cornerbacks Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler look be build on a strong 2015 season.

And that doesn't even account for the new rookies and sophomores, from Geneo Grissom and Trey Flowers to Malcom Brown and Vincent Valentine, and from Cyrus Jones and Darryl Roberts.

Alec and Rich break down the defensive depth chart, the key players to watch, and who will end up making the final roster.
