New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady saw his first time on the field this preseason, but you wouldn’t have known it. Brady was throwing dimes down the field, with a big gain to Aaron Dobson, and then this incredible 33-yard touchdown grab by Chris Hogan.
There’s a lot happening but it starts with the great protection in the pocket. Left tackle Nate Solder has his hands full with pass rusher Kony Ealy, but left guard Chris Barker absolutely stonewalls Star Lotulelei (rookie Joe Thuney was taking a breather).
Center David Andrews helps block with rookie Ted Karras, while right tackle Marcus Cannon does a great job steering the rusher around the pocket. Cannon deserves high marks on the evening as he stayed out of focus and did his job.
But then there’s the pass and grab. Brady throws a perfect arc to Hogan, who catches it in stride and into end zone.
It’s a beautiful pass and catch. Hogan is going to be a big part of the Patriots offense. Brady is as good as he’s ever been.
