The New England Patriots (3-0) will travel to face the New York Giants (1-2).
The Patriots are looking to wrap up a perfect 4-0 preseason for the first time since 2003, but they’ll have to lean on their back-ups to achieve the mark. The Patriots will be playing the Giants for the final preseason game for the 12th consecutive year. The Patriots have lost five of the past six preseason games against the Giants.
Look for the Patriots to give 3rd string quarterback Jacoby Brissett the bulk of the snaps, but don’t be surprised if the Patriots give Jimmy Garoppolo a drive or two in order to work on some of the flaws he showed against the Panthers. The Patriots need Garoppolo to be ready to face the Arizona Cardinals in week 1, so he needs all the work he can get.
The two sides have plenty of connections. The Giants have former Patriots running back Shane Vereen and linebacker Jonathan Casillas, while defensive line coach Patrick Graham changed from the Patriots to the Giants this offseason. The Patriots have former Giants in tight end Martellus Bennett and defensive tackle Markus Kuhn, and some coach named William Belichick? Let me know if I spelled that correctly.
Let’s hope both sides escape this game with their health fully intact. The regular season starts next week.
