Live updates from day 11 of Patriots training camp on 8/9/16: Joint practice with the Saints

New England and New Orleans join practice forces today.

Over the course of the last few summers it has become somewhat of an annual tradition on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium: New England Patriots joint practices with other NFL teams.

This year, the NFC South’s New Orleans Saints visit Foxboro to join the Patriots.

The two teams have a history when it comes to joining forces during training camp. New England and New Orleans have previously held three practices together leading up to their preseason games in 2010, 2012 and 2015. Joint practices are positive for various reasons. Not only will the teams practice against someone else for a change but they also have the opportunity to potentially scout players.

Today marks the first of two practice sessions leading up to Thursday’s preseason opener; and the first of two joint practice partners visiting New England: the Chicago Bears will be in town next week.

Tuesday, August 9th

9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. ET: Practice.
