Patriots WR Julian Edelman flings helmet “in disgust”, leaves practice with trainers

Let’s hope the Patriots receiver is okay.

Let’s hope for the best.

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was spotted slamming his helmet on the ground after having his lower left leg checked by the trainers. Edelman is returning from a left foot injury, which is the likely cause for distress.

Edelman just returned to practice and any injury would be a major setback for his recovery. The receiver suffered the injury in the middle of the 2015 season, and returned to face the Chiefs before reinjuring the foot against the Broncos.

Edelman is the top receiver on the roster and his loss would have a major impact on the roster. Number two receiver Danny Amendola has yet to practice, while the next few players on the depth chart (Chris Hogan, Keshawn Martin, Nate Washington, Malcolm Mitchell) are all banged up.

Fingers crossed that there is nothing serious with Edelman and he just needs the day off.

In other potentially bad news, defensive captain Rob Ninkovich was spotted “shaking his head” as he left the field with the team doctor. Let’s hope this is nothing, too.
