Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower probably won’t play against the Dolphins due to knee injury

The linebacker was not at practice all week.

New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower was not at practice on Friday, which means that he missed the full week of work. Head coach Bill Belichick almost never allows a player to see the field after not practicing all week. This will mark the third straight season where Hightower will have missed time due to a knee problem.

Hightower came up limping early in the first quarter against the Cardinals and had little impact on the rest of the game. The Patriots could look to Jonathan Freeny, Shea McClellin, or even Barkevious Mingo to take on a bigger role in Hightower’s likely absence.

Hightower will be a free agent after this season, so we have to think these injuries will play a big role in the Patriots asking for a lower price point for an extension.

Cornerback Eric Rowe was also absent at practice, per multiple reports.

Best of luck in their recoveries.
