"Games don’t go sometimes the way you think they are going to go." New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick started his post-game locker room speech by saying what was on everybody’s minds following the team’s 31-24 victory over the visiting Miami Dolphins. That did not go the way we thought it was going to go – especially after a dominating first half.
The Patriots ultimately won the game but lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the first half to a shoulder injury and almost blew their lead in the second half. But with Jacoby Brissett as quarterback, New England did prevail and the team’s coach acknowledged it: "[You] just gotta be ready to find a way to win and that’s what you did today."
The coach also put a focus on the quick turnaround the team needs to have as it prepares for a Thursday night matchup against the Houston Texans. "Tomorrow’s Thursday. This is Wednesday night," Belichick said. "Wednesday night; tomorrow is Thursday."
Belichick made sure his team understood the situation before giving the floor to an all-time great Patriot: Kevin Faulk.
"Put that jacket on," were some of the first words Faulk’s former coach said to him as the running back put on his red Patriots Hall of Fame jersey. Faulk’s reply: "I wanna put a uniform on right now."
