Patriots sign former Chiefs WR Da’Ron Brown to the practice squad

The Patriots have added another wide receiver to the roster.

The New England Patriots have added wide receiver Da’Ron Brown to the roster, per NESN’s Doug Kyed.

Brown is a 6’0, 205 pound receiver out of Northern Illinois, where he picked up 2,295 career receiving yards and 19 receiving touchdowns. He also added 160 yards rushing and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Brown runs a 4.54 second 40 yard dash, put up an outstanding 17 reps on the bench, and has an explosive 37 inch vertical and 10’0 broad jump. His 7.04 second three cone is pretty good, too.

Brown’s scouting report calls him a “quarterback’s friend,” but also notes that he lacks polish as a route runner.

Brown was a 7th round pick in the 2015 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent his entire rookie season on their practice squad, but was ultimately released.

Brown will be filling in for wide receiver Devin Street, who was signed off the practice squad by the Indianapolis Colts this past week. Hopefully Brown can add value to a shallow Patriots depth chart at wide receiver.
