Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount named September’s AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Congratulations to the Patriots running back!

We’ve been hyping up New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount on Pats Pulpit for the past month, but it’s been well deserved. Not only have Patriots fans taken notice of his contributions, but so have all the other teams in the league.

Blount has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September. Broncos LB Von Miller was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month, while Ravens K Justin Tucker was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

Blount leads the NFL with 298 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns on 75 carries and he has been active as a blocker in the pocket. Blount’s 164 yards after contact is 40% more than 2nd place. He has not been targeted in the passing game. He’s been the most productive running back and the NFL and the Patriots have needed every yard with two young quarterbacks filling in during the suspension of Tom Brady.

Blount is the second Patriots running back to win AFC Player of the Month after Corey Dillon won it in December of 2004.

Congratulations to Blount, and here’s to a great rest of the season.
