Patriots release WRs Aaron Dobson and DeAndre Carter

The next cuts involve two wide receivers.

The New England Patriots have until 4:00 p.m. ET to get to 53 players. Thus, considering the suspensions of quarterback Tom Brady and edge defender Rob Ninkovich, the team needs to let 20 players go today.

The first one was rookie cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc. Now, the team has released its second and third player, according to Christopher Price and Jeff Howe:

WR DeAndre Carter will be released by the Patriots as part of today's cuts, per a league source.

Aaron Dobson has been released, per source.

The 23-year old Carter, who enters his second NFL season, joined the Patriots last December but was unable to make an impression on a deep receiver depth chart. While he had some solid practices, he was unable to consistently perform well enough to earn a roster spot.

Consistency is also the key-word for wideout Aaron Dobson. The 2013 second round pick was really good at times but struggled with consistently playing well within the Patriots’ offense. The 24-year old will therefore go down as another wide receiver miss for the team.
