Nearly 1 in 6 gamblers are betting the Patriots will win the Super Bowl

The public is throwing their support behind the Patriots to win another title.

The oddsmaker Bovada has released information on how the public is placing their money on select NFL lines prior to the season and it seems like people love the New England Patriots.

The Patriots had the second-best odds of winning the Super Bowl at +675, trailing only the Packers at +600, but 15% of the public have placed their money on the Patriots compared to 10% on the Packers. The Seahawks (+900) and the Steelers (+1000) were third and fourth for Super Bowl odds and both have received 8% of the public money.

This makes some sense because quarterback Tom Brady will be back in time for the playoffs and the whole offense will have time to get on the same page to go on a hot streak.

New England is also a favorite to have a great season regardless of Super Bowl odds and despite missing Brady for four games. The Patriots tied multiple teams around the league with an over/under of 10.5 wins on the year and 79% of the public have bet the over. Only the Cardinals (o/u at 9.5 wins) have had a greater amount of bets on the over (84%).

On the flip side, the Colts are expected to fall on their faces. Indianapolis had an over/under of 9.5 wins, but 78% of the public has placed money on the under, the worst mark in the AFC.
