Patriots announce 5 practice players of the week from victory over the Jets

The Patriots skipped a week, but that’s okay.

The New England Patriots didn’t announce their practice players of the week from their Thursday Night victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (they didn’t respond to a request for comment), but they did highlight five practice players after their victory over the New York Jets: DL Angelo Blackson, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, DB David Jones, OL Ted Karras, and DB Damarius Travis.

DL Angelo Blackson is 6’4, 320 pounds and likely played as Muhammad Wilkerson, Leonard Williams, and Steve McClendon in practice. Marcus Cannon had an outstanding day shutting out Wilkerson.

QB Jimmy Garoppolo was obviously Jets quarterback Josh McCown.

DB David Jones is a free safety that likely imitated Jets rookie free safety Marcus Maye, one of the new defenders the Patriots coaching staff highlighted throughout the week.

OL Ted Karras is a versatile interior lineman and probably played as all of the Jets interior blockers. The Patriots linebackers had their best game of the season.

DB Damarius Travis is a strong safety that probably imitated Jets rookie strong safety Jamal Adams, another one of the new defenders the Patriots coaches highlighted. Rob Gronkowski had a successful day with Adams in coverage.

Week 2: DB Nate Ebner, DL Geneo Grissom, TE Jacob Hollister

Week 3: DL Adam Butler, DL Geneo Grissom, WR Cody Hollister, DB Damarius Travis

Week 5: Unknown

Week 6: DL Angelo Blackson, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, DB David Jones, OL Ted Karras, DB Damarius Travis.
