In three days, the New England Patriots will host the Atlanta Falcons in a rematch of Super Bowl LI. Unfortunately for the Patriots, the team might be forced to face the Falcons' high-powered offense without two of their top three cornerbacks. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though, and focus on today's injury report.
Did not participate
CB Stephon Gilmore (concussion/ankle)
LB Harvey Langi (back)
LB Elandon Roberts (ankle)
CB Eric Rowe (groin)
The list of players not participating in today's practice remains unchanged when compared to yesterday's injury report. Gilmore and Rowe being in limbo regarding Sunday's game against the Falcons could lead to Johnson Bademosi again seeing considerable playing time. The first-year Patriot has started last week's game against the New York Jets and at 6'1, 200 lbs looks like New England's best healthy matchup against Julio Jones.
Langi and Roberts, who was spotted but did not participate during today's session, being out again today might lead to veteran David Harris finally seeing some playing time. The veteran has played a mere seven snaps so far this season and would likely replace Roberts if need be.
Limited participation
RB Rex Burkhead (ribs)
WR Chris Hogan (ribs)
OG Shaq Mason (shoulder)
As is the case with the non-participants, the limited players also did not change from Wednesday to Thursday. Burkhead, who has suffered his injury in week two and has been out ever since, will likely be a game-time decision against the Falcons. Hogan and Mason might as well but should be ready to go, judged by the fact that they were able to finish last week's game in New York.
While New England's latest injury report looks just like yesterday's, the Falcons reported one minor change.
Did not participate
LB Jordan Tripp (concussion)
While he serves only as an emergency linebacker on defense, Tripp has been a core member of Atlanta's kicking game the last three weeks. The veteran has played more than 60% of the Falcons' special teams snaps over that period.
Limited participation
LB Vic Beasley (hamstring)
LB Jermaine Grace (hamstring)
LB Deion Jones (quadricep)
DE Takkarist McKinley (shoulder)
LB Duke Riley (knee)
WR Mohamad Sanu (hamstring)
DE Courtney Upshaw (ankle/knee)
K Matt Bryant (back)
Except for kicker Matt Bryant, who was absent yesterday, the Falcons' list of limited players remains unchanged. The team's top two linebackers – Beasley and Jones – are still limited, as are two of Atlanta's top defensive edges in McKinley and Upshaw.
