New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski has found his footing in 2017 and has converted on 21 of 22 kicking attempts this year. His lone miss came on an extra point against the New Orleans Saints.
Gostkowski launched a 58-yard field goal prior to halftime against the Carolina Panthers that doinked off and through the upright to bring the Patriots to a 17-16 deficit. That kick was the longest of Gostkowski’s career, surpassing his 57-yard field goal against the Dallas Cowboys in 2015.
That same kick also set the Patriots franchise record for longest field goal in franchise and stadium history. Adam Vinatieri had also kicked a 57-yard field goal for the Patriots way back in 2002 against the Chicago Bears.
The longest kick at Gillette Stadium belonged to Jets kicker Nick Folk, who connected on a 55-yard kick in 2015. Gostkowski now holds that honor in the records book.
Congratulations to Gostkowski for setting the record.
