Two New England Patriots starters are getting checked out for injury and their return to the game is still to be determined.
Defensive tackle Malcom Brown left the game with an ankle injury and is officially “QUESTIONABLE” to return. He’s been the Patriots best defensive tackle in 2017 and his absence opens the door for more snaps by Alan Branch and Lawrence Guy. Rookie Adam Butler could get more time, too.
Wide receiver Chris Hogan is being tested for a potential concussion, while NBC’s Chris Collinsworth shared that Hogan lost a few teeth earlier this week after a collision in practice. Hogan’s head slammed to the turf after a big catch-and-run and he returned to the field before he was called into the medical tent.
UPDATE: Hogan returned to the sideline without his helmet, per the Globe’s Ben Volin.
UPDATE: Hogan returned to the game, meaning that he cleared the concussion protocol.
UPDATE: Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower suffered a shoulder injury and is questionable to return, per the team. He might not return if the Patriots maintain their current lead.
We’ll provide updates on all three players as they’re available.
