The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently playing a hard-fought and close Thursday Night game – one that looked like the polar opposite of the Patriots' season so far: While the defense has looked mostly solid, the offense has been unable to find a rhythm.
After taking a 3-0 lead, the Buccaneers went ahead 7-3. However, New England answered with a nine-play, 75-yard drive to re-take the lead on the following touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Chris Hogan:
New England's offense approached the down with an 11-personnel group. Hogan aligned on the left side of the formation in between Danny Amendola and Dwayne Allen. The second-year Patriot ran a simple curl route at the goal line and Brady was able to quickly deliver him the football for six points – a simple route but perfect execution across the board.
Hogan's fifth touchdown catch of the season put New England ahead 10-7.
