Well, it’s hard to imagine the New England Patriots getting off to a better start to their second half of the season after they romped in Denver, taking down the Broncos 41-16.
It was the most complete game by the Patriots all season with the offense scoring in the red zone, the defense holding their fifth straight opponent to 17 or fewer points, and special teams scoring more points (17) than the Broncos did all game.
Rex Burkhead emerged as the lead running back, Martellus Bennett played a handful of snaps, and Stephon Gilmore did a great job covering Demaryius Thomas. Alec and Rich analyze how the different players performed and what that means for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, the rest of the AFC East fell on their face and the other contenders in the conference put up uninspiring performances. It’s pretty clear that New England is back on top as the best team in the AFC, while the NFC looks to be a heavyweight bout among the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Minnesota Vikings, with the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks still very much in the picture.
The Patriots get a chance to continue their win streak in Mexico City against the Oakland Raiders. Can they keep executing at such a high level?
