On Sunday versus the Oakland Raiders, the New England Patriots played a near-flawless game on offense, defense and special teams – and the latter of the three phases now earned the Patriots their next “AFC special teams player of the week” distinction: As the team announced earlier today, kicker Stephen Gostkowski receives the honor for his performance in Mexico City.

Gostkowski was a perfect four-for-four on field goals on Sunday, including two kicks from 50+ yards – the third time that this happened in his career. One of those kicks was a franchise record 62-yarder, coming in the closing seconds of the first half. Furthermore, the 33-year old also connected on all three of his extra point attempts and, as usual, was a weapon in the kickoff game.

Over the course of his 12-year career, the veteran received AFC special teams honors a total of six times. This week's designation is the first one coming during the 2017 season so far.
