The AFC has just four teams that have a real chance of winning the conference, according to Las Vegas oddsmaker Bovada, and there’s a surprise pick to be a possible six seed.
The New England Patriots (11/10; 47.6%) have the best odds of winning the conference, with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2/1; 33.3%) in second place. The Kansas City Chiefs (8/1; 11.1%) continued their decline, while the Jacksonville Jaguars (9/1; 10.0%) have crept up the rankings.
The only other teams of note are the Tennessee Titans (20/1; 5.0%) and a surprising Los Angeles Chargers team (28/1; 3.5%) in sixth place. Since there are only six teams that can reach the postseason in the AFC, the Chargers’ odds suggests that oddsmakers believe they have the best shot of being the six seed.
The Baltimore Ravens (40/1; 2.4%) are the current six seed, but rank behind the Chargers.
The Patriots are also the favorite to win Super Bowl LII with 11/4 odds (26.7%), edging out the Philadelphia Eagles (15/4; 21.1%) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (5/1; 16.7%). The New Orleans Saints (15/2; 11.8%) and the Minnesota Vikings (14/1; 6.7%) round out the top five.
On an additional note, Bovada has taken the odds for winning the AFC East off the board “due to the enormous lead of the Patriots.”
