Patriots-Dolphins: Bill Belichick breaks down the top players on the Miami roster

But is it all smoke from the head coach?

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick joined Scott Zolak to break down the best players on the Miami Dolphins ahead of Sunday’s game. He highlighted a few players on offense and spent some time on the Dolphins special teams unit. You can watch the video here.

Belichick showed how running backs Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake were able to break big runs down the field and how receivers Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills were able to beat their defenders and pick up yards after the catch. Belichick noted that Stills “can score on any place on the field with his great speed.”

This is a standard Belichick embellishment. Yes, the Dolphins have good skill players, but they certainly haven’t been able to execute at a high level this year. The Dolphins have just 29 plays of 20+ yards, fifth-fewest in the NFL, and a mere 9 plays of 30+ yards, third-fewest in the NFL. The Patriots need to be aware of the big play ability of the Dolphins, but Miami simply hasn’t been able to execute at a high enough level.

Belichick then showed the Dolphins field goal block unit and how the Baltimore Ravens needed to commit three penalties to prevent the Dolphins punt coverage unit from blocking the punt.
