The New England Patriots traditionally hand out practice players of the week honors after every victory. So far this season, they have been able to do so nine times – with the latest group being announced today. Via the team's Twitter feed, let's take a look at them:
WR Cody Hollister
QB Brian Hoyer
WR Riley McCarron
LB Trevor Reilly
DB Damarius Travis
Trevor Reilly was the lone player of the five listed above to actually appear in Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. However, the others – per the coaching staff's estimation – also helped the team prepare for its opponent. Riley McCarron and Cody Hollister, for example, likely helped the Patriots' defensive backs get ready for Dolphins wideouts Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker.
The two practice squad wideouts have received the honors multiple times before: Hollister is named practice player of the week for the fourth time this season, McCarron for the third. Damarius Travis also has earned four such accolades while Reilly, who left the game with a concussion, was the recipient of one previously. For backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, this is the first week being named practice player of the week.
