Will he ever lose again?!

Is this what it feels like to be a parent watching your kid go off to school and flourish? New Eng- sorry, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo started his second game for his new franchise and he’s won them both.

Last week, Garoppolo received his first start against the Chicago Bears and he led his team to a dramatic come-from-behind 15-14 victory. This week, he led the 49ers to a 26-16 win over the Houston Texans. When you include Garoppolo’s two starts for the New England Patriots at the beginning of 2016, then the youngster is 4-0 as an NFL starter and is still getting better with every game.

Garoppolo has completed 48 of 72 (66.7%) of his attempts with the 49ers for 645 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions for a respectable passer rating of 92.7. When you consider the dearth of talent on a 49ers roster that went 1-10 without Garoppolo at quarterback, it’s pretty clear that Garoppolo is doing something special.

So, sure, Garoppolo’s success is having a negative impact on the Patriots 2018 second round draft pick that they’ll receive from the 49ers as compensation for the Garoppolo trade. At 3-10, the Garoppolo-led 49ers are tied with the Jacoby Brissett-led Indianapolis Colts for the third-worst record in the NFL, ahead of only the 0-13 Cleveland Browns and the 2-11 New York Giants.

But I’m having fun watching Garoppolo succeed- so keep on starring in San Francisco, Jimmy!
