It took all 60 minutes for the New England Patriots to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and secure their ninth straight AFC East title. It is therefore no surprise that patriots.com's recently released behind-the-scenes clip from New England's postgame locker room starts with a montage of staffers distributing division championship hats and T-shirts all over the room.
The celebratory mood remains once the players enter the room, with most of the team visibly fired up after the last-second, come-from-behind victory in Pittsburgh. “We battled right to the end,” quarterback Tom Brady told wide receiver Danny Amendola, before a cut to a short conversation with team owner Robert Kraft: “That was awesome. Unreal.”
Head coach Bill Belichick echoed those feelings in his speech to the team. “Competing on every play. Battling all the way down to the wire. Keeping the pressure on them. Just made one more play than they did. That's what it was,” Belichick noted before praising his team for playing “a whole 60 minutes” and congratulating the team on winning the division crown.
