New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now the heavy favorite to win the 2017 NFL Regular Season MVP award, per oddsmaker Bovada. Brady now has 1/5 odds, or 83.3%. He leads the NFL with 4,163 passing yards and 8.1 yards per attempt. His passer rating of 104.0 ranks second and his 28 passing touchdowns rank third.
Rams running back Todd Gurley ranks second with 5/1 odds after being off the board last week, thanks to a 180 yard and 4 touchdown performance against the Seattle Seahawks. Gurley ranks second in the NFL with 1,817 yards from scrimmage and his 17 touchdowns lead the NFL by a wide margin (two players are tied for second with 12 touchdowns).
Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson are tied for third with 12/1 odds. Brees is tied with Brady with a 104.0 passer rating, but Brady has over 300 more passing yards, 7 more passing touchdowns, and a superior interception rate- and the Saints have a far more potent rushing attack, reducing Brees’ value in the offense. Wilson is second in the NFL with 30 passing touchdowns, but his candidacy is hurt by the Seahawks potential to miss the postseason.
Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz ranks fifth with 16/1 odds as he still leads the NFL with 33 passing touchdowns despite being out for the year with an injury.
Brady also has the best odds to record the most passing yards in 2017, coincidentally also with 1/5 odds. Brady currently has 4,163 passing yards and leads the league. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ranks second with 3/1 odds and 4,025 passing yards and Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford ranks third with 7/1 odds and 3,920 passing yards.
Bovada has also provided odds for 2017 NFL Coach of the Year and Rams head coach Sean McVay leads with 1/1 odds, ahead of Eagles head coach Doug Pederson with 3/1 odds. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick ranks third with 6/1 odds.
The Patriots are now the majority favorite to win the AFC with 4/5 odds (55.6%), ahead of the Steelers (3/1) and Jacksonville Jaguars (13/2). The Kansas City Chiefs (9/1) strengthened their hold on the AFC West, while the Baltimore Ravens (16/1) and Los Angeles Chargers (22/1) are the favorites to earn the wild card spots, ahead of the Buffalo Bills (66/1).
The Patriots are also the favorite to win the Super Bowl with 12/5 odds (29.4%), ahead of the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at 6/1 and the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Philadelphia Eagles at 10/1.
