Oddsmaker Bovada provided their week 17 update for MVP and Super Bowl odds. The MVP race is down to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with 1/3 odds or Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley with 2/1 odds. No other player was provided odds, making this a two-player race.
Gurley leads the NFL in yards and touchdowns and has been a key part of the Rams turnaround season, while Brady has been the best player on the best team in the NFL and leads the NFL in passing yards. Brady is the heavy favorite to win, but Gurley should earn a few votes.
The Patriots saw their odds of winning the AFC drop from 4/5 to 5/6 as the Pittsburgh Steelers gained ground, moving from 3/1 to 9/4. New England still has a better-than 50% chance of winning the conference, but it’s curious to see why the Patriots saw their odds decline.
Bovada gives the Jacksonville Jaguars 15/2 odds of winning the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs 9/1 odds, and the Baltimore Ravens 14/1 odds.
The Patriots odds of winning the Super Bowl also dropped from 12/5 to 5/2, while the Minnesota Vikings (15/4), Steelers (19/4), and New Orleans Saints (9/1) all gained ground. The Rams and Philadelphia Eagles (tied with 10/1) round out the top five.
