The New England Patriots held a 21-3 lead over the New York Jets at halftime and the second half wasn’t worth watching. The two sides exchanged punts and field goals, before Eric Lee recorded a safety, with the Patriots ultimately winning 26-6.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady struggled with the Jets defensive pressure and was inaccurate or on the wrong page with his receivers on multiple attempts; the receivers had a bad case of the drops; and only Dion Lewis appeared to want to play in the regular season finale as he gained 133 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
The New England defense was outstanding as linemen Lawrence Guy and Malcom Brown were impenetrable up the gut, with only a few errors by the linebackers- usually on the edge- coming along the way that were ultimately harmless.
The Patriots finish the 2017 regular season with a 13-3 record and clinched the #1 seed and homefield advantage in the AFC. They will wait to see their potential opponents with this afternoon slate of games that determine wild card teams, and then have a bye week to see who they will actually play in the divisional round.
