Typically Bernd suggests three possible players to earn the game ball after a New England Patriots victory, but this was such a unimpressive day on offense and the New York Jets never stressed the New England defense, preventing too many players from standing out.
So it was a struggle to come up with three names. Who deserves the game ball?
DL Lawrence Guy
Guy racked up two tackles for loss and added three other run stuffs on first down for only 1 or 2 yards gained. He was the best player on the Patriots defense all game and he combined with Malcom Brown to hold the Jets to 40 rushing yards on 19 attempts, or 2.11 yards per attempt.
RB Dion Lewis
Lewis racked up 93 rushing yards and a touchdown on a career-high 26 attempts, one week after setting his previous career high of 24 against the Buffalo Bills. He added 40 receiving yards and a touchdown, too. He was the engine of the offense and had an outstanding day.
P Ryan Allen
Allen finished the day pinning the Jets on the 4-, 4-, and 3-yard line and added an additional two punts inside the 20-yard line, forcing the Jets to play with terrible field position all day.
ED James Harrison
Harrison started slowly as the Jets ran away from his side of the field for big gains. He finished with 5 tackles, 2 for loss and 2 sacks including one strip sack. During his time this year with the Steelers, he had 3 tackles, 1 for loss, and 1 sack.
