The New England Patriots will miss a core player on Monday night against the Miami Dolphins: toght end Rob Gronkowski, who was suspended for one game yesterday, saw his suspension upheld on appeal. The NFL announced the decision earlier today.
Gronkowski was and remains suspended after a late and unneccessary hit on cornerback Tre’Davious White during Sunday’s game at the Buffalo Bills. The rookie defender, who intercepted quarterback Tom Brady and was tackled by Gronkowski well after the play was ruled dead, suffered a concussion because of it.
The suspension means that New England will have to rely on backup tight ends Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister versus the Dolphins. Neither played a big role so far this season - but they need to show their worth now.
