The New England Patriots re-signed linebacker Jonathan Freeny, according to NESN’s Doug Kyed.
The Patriots needed extra linebacker support with Kyle Van Noy battling a lower leg injury and Freeny knows the Patriots defense as a depth option, while also being able to contribute on special teams.
New England had an open roster spot due to Rob Gronkowski’s suspension, so there does not need to be a corresponding roster move to account for the addition of Freeny.
