A whopping 14 players on the New England Patriots were included on Thursday’s injury report ahead of Monday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. The most notable inclusion is quarterback Tom Brady, who missed his second-straight practice with an Achilles injury. He’s shown up on the report for this injury for a few weeks, but it hasn’t affected his availability on game day.
Here’s the full report.
Did not participate
Patriots: QB Tom Brady (Achilles), RT Marcus Cannon (ankle), LB Kyle Van Noy (calf), DL Deatrich Wise (foot)
Dolphins: OG Jermon Bushrod (foot), QB Matt Moore (foot), DT Ndamukong Suh (knee), CB Cordrea Tankersley (ankle/shoulder), S Michael Thomas (knee), DE Cameron Wake (not injury related), RB Damien Williams (shoulder)
This is a pretty star-studded list of absentees, with multiple starters on both teams not practicing on Thursday. With the game not until Monday, and with the Dolphins not having a bye week this year, it’s possible both teams are giving these players some extra time off in preparation for the final stretch of the season.
If these players miss practice on Friday, it will be much more notable.
Patriots: CB Malcolm Butler (ankle), LB Marquis Flowers (knee), DL Trey Flowers (rib), CB Stephon Gilmore (ankle), W Chris Hogan (shoulder), DB Brandon King (hamstring), CB Eric Rowe (groin), WR Matthew Slater (hamstring), OT LaAdrian Waddle (ankle)
Dolphins: DT Davon Godchaux (knee), C Mike Pouncey (hip)
That’s a huge chunk of the Patriots roster considered limited participants, but this should be a good sign for the return of both Trey Flowers and Chris Hogan. The fact that both of the Patriots starting cornerbacks are dealing with ankle injuries is concerning, but hopefully they’ll be back in shape by gameday.
Patriots: LB Trevor Reilly (concussion)
Reilly will hopefully be removed from concussion protocol in the coming days.
