Patriots to start offseason workouts on April 17

New England starts its preparation for 2017 in two months.

Only eight days have passed since the New England Patriots have defeated the Atlanta Falcons to win Super Bowl LI. While the celebratory mood has not yet left the Northeast, the sights are already set on the upcoming season and preparing for successfully defending the world championship.

The start of free agency and the new league year on March 9th is the next major date on the Patriots’ offseason calender. Another one was added today, according to Doug Kyed:

Patriots offseason workout program starts April 17.

While New England will return to the practice facilities that day, it remains to be seen how the team will actually look like that day. Not only are the early workout stages of voluntary nature, the Patriots also have a lengthy list of players about to become unrestricted free agents in not even a month.

For those at Gillette Stadium on April 17tg, the “Blitz for Six” will officially begin.
