Super Bowl LI recap: Patriots mount greatest comeback in NFL history, beat Falcons 34-28 in overtime

THE PATRIOTS DID IT!

The New England Patriots mounted a furious comeback from trailing 28-3 to ultimately defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime of Super Bowl LI.

I’m speechless. QB Tom Brady was perfect in overtime as the Patriots waltzed down and RB James White scored the game winning touchdown.

Brady was 43 of 62 (69.4%) for a Super Bowl record 466 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. RB James White caught 14 of 16 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown, and added 29 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. WR Julian Edelman added 87 yards on 5 receptions. WR Danny Amendola chipped in 78 yards and a touchdown. WR Malcolm Mitchell gained 70 yards on 6 receptions. TE Martellus Bennett contributed 62 yards on 5 receptions. WR Chris Hogan had 57 yards on 4 receptions.

The Patriots score on their final five drives of the game, and six of their final seven. The defense allowed one score in the second half.

QB Tom Brady earned a NFL-record 5th Super Bowl title and 4th Super Bowl MVP award Head coach Bill Belichick will need to update his boat to “VII Rings”.

How did the Patriots win this? How did they force the comeback? I have no idea. We are all witnesses.
