The Patriots acquired Mingo from the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2016 season in exchange for a 5th round draft pick. Mingo was projected to be a top back-up, but never found his groove in the defense. He settled in on the Patriots special teams unit and played 323 special teams snaps, second-most on the team.
The return of LB Jonathan Freeny from the injured reserve made Mingo expendable. Mingo enters the draft calculus as a potential 2018 7th round pick, but will likely be canceled out by one of the Patriots typical veteran signings.
Mingo recorded 4 tackles with the Patriots.
