RB LeGarrette Blount has “no plans” to sign Patriots’ proposed offer

New England and its 2016 leading rusher remain in a contractual standstill.

Just last season, LeGarrette Blount led the NFL in touchdowns with 18 while being the New England Patriots’ leading rusher with 1,161 yards. Despite his stellar statistics, though, the 30-year old unrestricted free agent remains unsigned.

And while he apparently has the option to return to the Patriots, Blount has no intention to sign their most recent offer as the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe reported earlier today:

LeGarrette Blount update: There isn't one.

Blount has no plans to sign Pats' proposal, which was made at start of free agency. $$$ talks.

Neither the Patriots nor Blount appear to be in a rush to re-join forces. New England has already invested starting running back money in free agent signee Rex Burkhead, so it looks as if the team is content with waiting for Blount to return to the negotiating table.

The team’s 2016 starter, on the other hand, seems willing to stay unsigned until the right offer comes along. It remains to be seen if New England ultimately makes it or if another team jumps in. At this point in time, however, it would not be a surprise to see Blount remain unsigned until after the draft.
