Just days after former New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez was found not guilty of double homicide, Hernandez “was discovered hanged in his cell,” per an official statement by the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.

“Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit,” per an official statement. “Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bedsheet that he attached to his cell window. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”
Hernandez was still serving a life sentence for the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd. He was pronounced dead at 4:07 am at a local hospital.
