After a relatively quiet first day of the 2017 NFL Draft, the second day is scheduled to to begin at 7:00 PM EST. Teams will have 7 minutes to make their selections in the second round and 5 minutes to submit their picks in the third round.
The New England Patriots do not have a pick in the second round and are scheduled to make their selections at 72nd and 96th overall, both in the third round.
There are plenty of players still on the board that could interest the Patriots and it’s pretty clear that New England wasn’t in love with the top talent in this draft- and believed that the players in the third round won’t be too different from those selected in the second round. Check out our analysis of the first round here.
Hopefully we’ll see the Patriots make their picks tonight. We’ll provide in-depth analysis when available.

Here is our live tracker.
Round 2
33. Green Bay Packers: Washington CB Kevin King
The Packers needed help on defense and added one of the best athletes in the draft as King will compete with 2015 first round CB Damarious Randall and 2015 second round CB Quinten Rollins, and the recently signed Davon House for playing time.
Grade: A
34. Seattle Seahawks -> Jacksonville Jaguars: Alabama OT Cam Robinson
The Jaguars sent their 35th and 187th picks to Seattle for the 34th overall pick. This is a perfectly even trade.
Another super even trade. Seahawks keep adding lottery tickets, this time from the Jaguars. pic.twitter.com/8oK7eQEwKt
— Rich Hill (@PP_Rich_Hill) April 28, 2017
The Jaguars need plenty of help on the offensive line and they’ve added one of the best offensive line prospects in the draft. Robinson has a ton of upside and fills a big need- and should help block for first round pick RB Leonard Fournette.
Grade: A
35. Jacksonville Jaguars -> Seattle Seahawks: Michigan State DT Malik McDowell
McDowell is a great prospect and should be a great fit in the Seattle defensive line, but Seattle also has serious needs on their offensive line. Western Kentucky OG Forrest Lamp is still on the board. The Seahawks fell apart in 2016 because their offensive line couldn’t block a wet paper bag. We’ll see if this comes back to bite them in 2017.
Grade: C
36. Chicago Bears -> Arizona Cardinals: Washington S Budda Baker
The Bears needed to pick up some picks after their move in the first round and added #45, #119, and #197, along with a 2018 4th round pick. This is a pretty even trade for both sides.
Another pretty even trade today, this one between the Cardinals and Bears pic.twitter.com/xknDAaCoyJ
— Rich Hill (@PP_Rich_Hill) April 28, 2017
Baker is one of my favorite safety prospects due to his age and upside and the Cardinals needed to replace Tony Jefferson. Baker should be a nice complement to Tyrann Mathieu and Antoine Bethea in the secondary.
Grade: A
37. Los Angeles Rams -> Buffalo Bills: Eastern Carolina WR Zay Jones
The Bills sent #44 and #91 to the Rams for #37 and #149 in an extremely even trade.
Super even trade between Bills and Rams. pic.twitter.com/nHrUlgv1aw
— Rich Hill (@PP_Rich_Hill) April 28, 2017
The Bills select one of the most exciting receivers in the draft as Jones holds pretty much ever wide receiver record in college football. Jones should be a great teammate for Sammy Watkins.
Grade: A
38. Los Angeles Chargers: Western Kentucky OG Forrest Lamp
Finally, the Chargers take the best offensive lineman in the draft. This is a great and smart move by the Chargers as Lamp would make every offensive line better.
Grade: A
39. New York Jets: Florida FS Marcus Maye
The Patriots were interested in taking Maye, so the Jets add a pretty good prospect. Maye joins Jets first round SS Jamal Adams to remake the entire New York safety position. The Jets fix one of their biggest needs so it’s hard to criticize too much.
Grade: A
40. Carolina Panthers: Ohio State ATH Curtis Samuel
The Panthers are doing everything they can to take pressure off of QB Cam Newton, so Samuel- a Percy Harvin-like player- will join first round RB Christian McCaffrey as a duo of youngsters that can line up anywhere in the offense.
Grade: A
41. Cincinnati Bengals -> Minnesota Vikings: Florida State RB Dalvin Cook
The Bengal pick up the 48th and 128th overall pick as the Vikings trade up to nab their Adrian Peterson replacement.
Even trade for Vikings and Bengals. pic.twitter.com/RMfwNuEAlP
— Rich Hill (@PP_Rich_Hill) April 28, 2017
Dalvin Cook is arguably the best running back in the draft. This is a very good match of need and talent.
Grade: A
42. New Orleans Saints: Utah FS Marcus Williams
The Saints continue to restructure their secondary by adding one of the best ballhawks in the draft to their first round pick of Ohio State CB Marshon Lattimore. Williams should contribute on day one.
Grade: A
43. Philadelphia Eagles: Washington CB Sidney Jones
Jones was considered a top 20 prospect before he tore his Achilles at his Pro Day. He is expected to be ready early in his rookie season, but rust should be expected since he won’t be a full participant over the summer.
Grade: B
44. Buffalo Bills -> Los Angeles Rams: South Alabama TE Gerald Everett
Everett is an athletic tight end that is probably more of a big wide receiver. The Rams need all the help they can get on offense and Everett should be a favorite target of QB Jared Goff. Rams new head coach Sean McVay got the most out of TE Jordan Reed while at Washington.
Grade: B
45. Arizona Cardinals -> Chicago Bears: Ashland TE Adam Shaheen
The Bears cupboard is bare on offense and Sheehan might have the most upside at the position- but he’s pretty raw and comes from a lower quality conference. He is 6’6, 278 pounds, but runs like a wide receiver.
Grade: A
46. Indianapolis Colts: Florida CB Quincy Wilson
Wilson is a favorite in scouting communities due to his versatility and strong run defense. The Colts continue to rebuild their secondary after adding Ohio State FS Malik Hooker in the first round.
Grade: A
47. Baltimore Ravens: Houston EDGE Tyus Bowser
It’s difficult to find 3-4 edge defenders for the Ravens defense, but they’ve found a perfect fit in Bowser. He’s a phenomenal athlete that can disrupt the pocket and drop back into coverage.
Grade: A
48. Minnesota Vikings -> Cincinnati Bengals: Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon
Mixon enters the league with a cloud due to his history of domestic violence. The Bengals have a history of taking players with these major red flags. As a player, Mixon is one of the most dynamic backs and should replace RB Jeremy Hill.
Grade: N/A
49. Washington: Alabama EDGE Ryan Anderson
Washington drafted Anderson’s college teammate DL Jonathan Allen in the first round. Anderson is a solid prospect and should fit with the Washington defensive front as the team isn’t happy with the current EDGE depth of Ryan Kerrigan, Preston SMith, and Trent Murphy.
Grade: B
50. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Texas A&M SS Justin Evans
Evans is the first “unexpected” pick as he does not rank in the top 100 of NDS Scouting services. Evans is a strong safety with great athleticism that is better towards the line of scrimmage.
Grade: C
51. Denver Broncos: Florida State DL DeMarcus Walker
Walker has extremely limited athleticism for an edge defender, but compares well to the likes of Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson- both studs with Denver- if he is moved to the inside and gains 5-10 more pounds.
Grade: B
52. Cleveland Browns: Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer
The Browns draft their quarterback, but I wonder what their analytics say about a quarterback that completes <60% in their final year in college (not a good sign), on a team that declined under their stewardship (not a good sign), that struggles while under pressure (not a good sign). This isn’t as bad as the Jets taking Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but it’s pretty close.
Grade: D
53. Detroit Lions: Florida CB Teez Tabor
The Lions are looking to boost their talent on defense and Tabor is a player the Patriots were interested in selecting. He should be a good #2 cornerback opposite of Darius Slay.
Grade: A
54. Miami Dolphins: Ohio State LB Raekwon McMillan
The Dolphins work to fix their defensive front seven as McMillan joins first round pick EDGE Charles Harris. McMillan should learn from Lawrence Timmons and should be a nice future complement to LB Kiko Alonso.
Grade: A
55. New York Giants: Alabama DL Dalvin Tomlinson
Tomlinson is an impressively athletic defensive lineman that should pair with Damon “Snacks” Harrison at the heart of the Giants defensive line and will help replace Jonathan Hankins.
Grade: A
56. Oakland Raiders: Connecticut SS Obi Melifonwu
The Raiders added another defensive back after taking Ohio State CB Gareon Conley in the first round. Melifonwu is a big, long, athletic strong safety that could be a perfect counter to opposing tight ends. However, his play on the field doesn’t always live up to his combine numbers.
The Raiders selected strong safety Karl Joseph in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, though, so it’ll be curious to see the two players on the same field.
Grade: B
57. Houston Texans: Vanderbilt LB Zach Cunningham
Cunningham will be the eventual heir to Brian Cushing and will pair with Bernardrick McKinney to form one of the great young linebacker duos in the league. The Texans are replenishing their defensive front. The Patriots really liked Cunningham.
Grade: A+
58. Seattle Seahawks: LSU C Ethan Pocic
The Seahawks really needed to find a player to help protect QB Russell Wilson. Oddly enough, C Justin Britt was their only good lineman, so Pocic will probably move to guard. Still, the Seahawks added a good prospect at a position of major need.
Grade: A
59. Kansas City Chiefs: Vanderbilt DL Tanoh Kpassagnon
The Chiefs just released DL Jaye Howard and Kpassagnon should step right into his old role on the defensive line. Kpassagnon is a tremendous athlete with plenty of upside.
Grade: A
60. Dallas Cowboys: Colorado CB Chidobe Awuzie
Awuzie was regarded as a first round prospect, so this is a major steal for Dallas. The Cowboys don’t really have a good cornerback on the roster, so Awuzie will have to step up as a rookie.
Grade: A+
61. Green Bay Packers: N.C. State SS Josh Jones
The Packers needed to replace versatile safety Micah Hyde and Jones fits the bill. Jones can play cornerback, linebacker, and both safety positions. He and Packers other second round pick Kevin King are huge, athletic defensive backs to help the Green Bay secondary.
Grade: A
62. Pittsburgh Steelers: USC WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
The Steelers can’t count on Martavis Bryant and Smith-Schuster was one of the most dynamic and young receivers in all of college football. He’ll be a perfect receiver in the Steelers offense.
Grade: A
63. Atlanta Falcons -> Buffalo Bills: Temple OL Dion Dawkins
The Bills sent #75, #148, and #156 to the Falcons to jump the Carolina Panthers and pick their player.
Another fair trade, now between the Bills and Falcons pic.twitter.com/0kE6pCln5m
— Rich Hill (@PP_Rich_Hill) April 29, 2017
Dawkins can play either tackle or guard and he should help the Bills continue their strong offensive line play as a possible long-term replacement for Richie Incognito.
Grade: A
64. Carolina Panthers: Western Michigan OL Taylor Moton
Moton can play either tackle or guard and should help boost the Panthers offensive line.
Grade: A
Round 3
65. Cleveland Browns: Charlotte DT Larry Ogunjobi
66. San Francisco 49ers: Colorado CB Ahkello Witherspoon
67. San Francisco 49ers - > New Orleans Saints: Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara
68. Jacksonville Jaguars: Illinois EDGE Dawaune Smoot
69. Los Angeles Rams: Eastern Washington WR Cooper Kupp
70. New York Jets -> Minnesota Vikings: Ohio State C Pat Elflein
71. Los Angeles Chargers: Indiana OG Dan Feeney
72. New England Patriots -> Tennessee Titans: Western Kentucky WR Taywan Taylor
73. Cincinnati Bengals: Kansas State EDGE Jordan Willis
74. Baltimore Ravens: Michigan DL Chris Wormley
75. Buffalo Bills -> Atlanta Falcons: LSU LB Duke Riley
76. New Orleans Saints: Florida LB Alex Anzalone
77. Arizona Cardinals -> Carolina Panthers: Texas A&M Daeshon Hall
78. Baltimore Ravens: Alabama EDGE Tim Williams
79. Minnesota Vikings -> New York Jets: Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart
80. Indianapolis Colts: Ohio EDGE Tarell Basham
81. Washington: UCLA CB Fabian Moreau
82. Denver Broncos: Louisiana Tech WR Carlos Henderson
83. Tennessee Titans -> New England Patriots: Youngstown EDGE Derek Rivers
84. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Penn State WR Chris Godwin
85. Detroit Lions -> New England Patriots: Troy OT Antonio Garcia
86. Minnesota Vikings -> Kansas City Chiefs: Toledo RB Kareem Hunt
87. New York Giants: Cal QB Davis Webb
88. Oakland Raiders: UCLA DT Eddie Vanderdoes
89. Houston Texans: Texas RB D’Onta Foreman
90. Seattle Seahawks: Central Florida CB Shaquill Griffin
91. Buffalo Bills -> Los Angeles Rams: Boston College FS John Johnson
92. Dallas Cowboys: Michigan CB Jourdan Lewis
93. Green Bay Packers: Auburn DT Montravious Adams
94. Pittsburgh Steelers: Tennessee CB Cameron Sutton
95. Seattle Seahawks: Michigan S Delano Hill
96. New England Patriots -> Detroit Lions: Northern Illinois WR Kenny Golladay
97. Miami Dolphins: Clemson CB Cordrea Tankersley
98. Carolina Panthers -> Arizona Cardinals: Grambling WR Chad Williams
99. Philadelphia Eagles: West Virginia CB Rasul Douglas
100. Tennessee Titans: FIU TE Jonnu Smith
101. Denver Broncos: Lamar CB Brandon Langley
102. Seattle Seahawks: North Carolina DT Nazair Jones
103. New Orleans Saints: Florida Atlantic EDGE Trey Hendrickson
104. Kansas City Chiefs -> Minnesota Vikings -> San Francisco 49ers: Iowa QB C.J. Beathard
105. Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh RB James ConnerPittsburgh RB Jame
106. Seattle Seahawks: Michigan WR Amara Darboh
107. New York Jets -> Tampa Bay Buccaneers: LSU LB Kendall Beckwith
